About Me

Luca van Straaten

Hi, I'm Luca van Straaten, an electrical engineer based in Delft, interested in embedded systems prototyping.

My passion for electronics started at a young age, and I've since gained experience working on a variety of exciting projects. These include building a smart home using IKEA and custom lights, modifying my 3D printer, and refitting a 52ft sailing catamaran. I also spend time at RevSpace, my local hackerspace, where I come for inspiration and to collaborate and socialise with like-minded individuals.

One of my latest projects involved building an electric car by converting a BMW Z3, and I'm excited to share my progress on my website. Alongside my hands-on skills, I'm proficient in programming microcontrollers using C, and I'm familiar with machine learning and data processing using Python.

I'm passionate about sustainable technology and using my skills to solve niche problems and create proof-of-concepts for eventual production. In the future, I hope to work in embedded systems prototyping, combining both hardware and software development.

Outside of electronics, you can find me flying drones and gliders, building/driving electric cars, and sailing boats. If you're interested in collaborating or chatting about electronics, feel free to get in touch!

I also have posts on the hsnl.sosial Mastodon and contribute to projects on GitHub. Feel free to follow me and check out my work!
